Verified hospitals
What accreditation means, how we check it, and why a badge without a source is worth nothing.
Two accreditations matter most for international patients in India: NABH, India’s national hospital standard, and JCI, an international standard. India has over 1,299 NABH-accredited hospitals according to the government; a much smaller number hold JCI accreditation.
NABH
The National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers is a constituent board of the Quality Council of India. Its public directory lets anyone check a hospital’s status.

JCI
Joint Commission International is the international arm of The Joint Commission in the United States. Accreditation runs on a three-year cycle, so a badge from several years ago may no longer be current.
How we verify
- Every badge on IndiaMedica carries the source we checked and the date we checked it.
- A badge older than twelve months stops showing automatically until it is re-checked. This rule is enforced in our code, not left to memory.
- Where we could only check the hospital’s own statement, we say so. Before a hospital becomes a partner we check the accreditor’s directory as well.
- Listing is editorial. Hospitals cannot pay to appear or to rank higher.
Hospitals verified so far
This list is short on purpose and will grow as we verify more. It is not a ranking.
