Can Ivorian patients use the e-Medical visa?

Yes. The official portal lists Côte d’Ivoire as eligible, and the Embassy of India in Abidjan has confirmed that the e-Visa facility is available to Ivorian nationals. The embassy notes that the passport must be valid for six months from arrival with two blank pages, and that travellers need a return or onward ticket and enough funds.

The embassy also lists exclusions. Diplomatic and official passport holders, laissez-passer holders and people endorsed on a parent’s or spouse’s passport cannot use the e-Visa. Travellers with a Pakistani passport or Pakistani origin must apply for a regular visa.

What does the Abidjan embassy ask for with a regular medical visa?

  • A medical report or recommendation from a local hospital or doctor for the treatment sought.
  • A letter from the Indian hospital where treatment is planned.
  • A bank statement covering at least six months showing sufficient funds.
  • A work attestation certificate and a certificate of residence.
  • An air ticket booking or reservation.

The embassy receives applications from residents of Côte d’Ivoire in the morning. Ask the consular section to confirm the current list before you go, and bring originals as well as copies.

Yellow fever

Côte d’Ivoire is on the yellow fever endemic list reproduced by India’s Ministry of Health. Without a valid certificate, a traveller can be quarantined on arrival.

Which language edition suits Ivorian families?

IndiaMedica’s French edition is written for francophone Africa. The English edition is the reference, and Indian hospital records are in English. Ask the hospital about French-speaking staff or interpreters, and choose an attendant who can follow English if possible.

Where do Ivorian e-Visa holders arrive?

The portal’s designated airports include Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Jaipur. Your hospital city decides where you land.

What practical points matter?

Carry prescriptions for every regular medicine. Indian customs prohibits narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, so ask the hospital about any controlled medicine. Foreign currency above prescribed limits must be declared.

How does IndiaMedica help Ivorian patients?

We review reports free, in French or English, obtain opinions from accredited hospitals and help you get the hospital letter either visa route needs. Partner hospitals pay a disclosed referral fee that never changes your price.

Questions people ask

Which is quicker for an Ivorian patient, the e-Visa or the regular visa?

For most ordinary passport holders the e-Medical visa avoids an embassy visit and is applied for online at least four days before arrival. The regular visa route needs more documents, including a six-month bank statement.

Why does the embassy ask for a work attestation and residence certificate?

They are part of the Abidjan embassy’s standard list for regular visa applications. They help the embassy confirm your circumstances. The e-Visa route does not list them.
