Which visa route should a Mozambican patient use?

Mozambique appears on the e-Visa eligible list on India’s official portal. Most patients with ordinary passports apply online for the e-Medical visa, with up to two e-Medical Attendant visas for companions. Those who are not eligible for the e-Visa apply for a regular medical visa through the High Commission of India in Maputo.

What does the Maputo High Commission ask for?

For a regular medical visa the High Commission lists these documents alongside the online application form:

  • An acceptance letter from an established Indian hospital with the name and passport number of the patient and any attendants.
  • The patient’s medical history and supporting reports from the local clinic or hospital.
  • A medical visa undertaking form.

The High Commission notes that business visa sponsor letters must be in English. Plan for English versions of supporting letters and reports in general, since Indian hospitals and missions work in English.

Ayurveda and the medical visa

The Maputo High Commission states that Ayurvedic treatment is part of Indian Systems of Medicine and is covered under the medical visa and e-Medical visa. Ayurveda is supportive wellness care, not a replacement for treatment your doctor recommends.

What does the e-Visa application need?

Upload a photograph on a white background and a PDF of the passport details page, attach the Indian hospital letter showing the suggested admission date and apply at least four days before arrival.

Is yellow fever vaccination needed?

Mozambique is not on the yellow fever endemic list reproduced by India’s Ministry of Health. Check the rule if your route passes through a listed country.

Which language edition suits Mozambican patients?

IndiaMedica does not publish a Portuguese edition. Our English edition is the reference. If English is difficult, ask the hospital about interpreter support and bring an English-speaking attendant if you can.

Where do e-Visa holders arrive?

Designated airports on the portal include Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Kochi (Cochin). Kochi is covered in our destination guides, including for Ayurveda wellness.

How does IndiaMedica help Mozambican patients?

We review reports free, ask accredited hospitals for opinions and help obtain an acceptance letter naming patient and attendants. Partner hospitals pay a disclosed referral fee that never changes your price. Carry prescriptions, since India prohibits narcotic and psychotropic substances without authority.

My reports are in Portuguese. Will the Indian hospital accept them?

Send them, but add an English summary from your doctor or a translation of key reports. This helps the specialist give an opinion and helps the mission or portal reviewer understand the plan.
