Which visa route suits an Omani patient?
Oman appears on the official e-Visa eligible list. Most patients can apply online for the e-Medical visa, with up to two family members on e-Medical Attendant visas. A paper visa from the Embassy in Muscat is the other option. You might choose it if you or an attendant cannot use the e-Visa, for example because of an official passport.
How does the e-Visa work?
- Apply on the official Government of India portal at least four days before arrival, within a 120-day window.
- Your passport needs six months’ validity when you apply and two blank pages.
- The e-Visa cannot be extended or converted.
- Biometric details are captured at immigration on arrival.
How does the paper visa route work?
The Embassy says applicants complete the online form, then submit a printout with two recent photographs to BLS International. You attend in person for biometric capture. Bring a copy of your passport and your Omani residence permit or ID. The Embassy notes that a paper visa’s validity is counted from the date of issue, not from the date you enter India.
How can you avoid fake visa websites?
The Embassy in Muscat warns about fake third-party websites offering Indian e-Visas. Apply only through the official portal. If a site asks for extra service charges or looks unofficial, close it.
What should you prepare?
- Reports, scans and prescriptions, with a summary from your doctor in Oman.
- The Indian hospital’s acceptance letter once the specialist has reviewed your case.
- Passport details for every attendant.
- A list of current medicines with doses.
- Contact details for your doctor at home for follow-up.
