Qatari nationals are eligible for the Indian e-Visa. For hospital treatment a patient applies for the e-Medical visa. For a programme in an Indian system of medicine such as Ayurveda, the Government of India has introduced the e-Ayush visa. Each has a matching attendant visa for a companion.

Which visa fits your treatment?
Qatar appears on the official e-Visa eligible list. The visa should match the purpose of your trip:
- The e-Medical visa, for treatment in a recognised or specialised hospital.
- The e-Ayush visa, for treatment under Ayush systems such as Ayurveda. PIB says the Ayush visa was introduced on 27 July 2023, followed by the e-Ayush and e-Ayush Attendant visas.
- An attendant visa for each companion, linked to the patient’s visa.
Ayurveda is supportive wellness care. It is never a replacement for treatment your specialist recommends. If you need both, ask the hospital and the visa portal which single visa covers your plan.
What are the e-Visa rules?
- Apply at least four days before arrival and within a 120-day window.
- Hold a passport with six months’ validity when you apply and two blank pages.
- The e-Visa is non-extendable and non-convertible.
- Holders of diplomatic or official passports cannot use the e-Visa.
Does Ramadan affect planning?
If you hope to plan treatment around Ramadan or Eid, tell the hospital your dates early. Fasting may affect tests, anaesthesia and medicine timing. Your specialist decides what is safe. Our Ramadan checklist lists the questions to ask.
What should you prepare?
- Reports and imaging from your doctor in Qatar, with a covering summary.
- The hospital’s or Ayush centre’s acceptance letter.
- A list of current medicines and any allergies.
- Dietary needs, such as halal food, to share with the hospital before admission.
- The names and passport details of anyone travelling as your attendant, so they match the hospital’s letter.
Is Arabic support available?
IndiaMedica publishes a full Arabic edition. You can send your reports and questions in Arabic. We can ask hospitals about Arabic interpreters and prayer facilities.
How does IndiaMedica help Qatari patients?
We review your reports free of charge and share them with suitable hospitals, with your consent. The treating specialist decides on treatment and the length of stay. Where you want an Ayurveda programme after treatment, we only suggest it once your doctor agrees. Our referral fee is disclosed and never changes your price.
Questions people ask
Should I apply for an e-Medical or an e-Ayush visa?
Use the e-Medical visa for treatment in a hospital and the e-Ayush visa for treatment under Ayush systems such as Ayurveda. Choose the visa that matches the main purpose of your trip. If unsure, ask the hospital’s international desk before you apply.
Can Ayurveda replace my surgery or medicine?
No. Ayurveda is supportive wellness care, not a replacement for treatment your specialist recommends. Any Ayurveda programme should be agreed with your treating doctor first.
Can an official passport holder from Qatar use the e-Medical visa?
No. The e-Visa portal says holders of diplomatic or official passports are not eligible for the e-Visa. They should apply for a regular visa through an Indian mission.
