Which visa does a Yemeni patient need?
Yemen does not appear on the official e-Visa eligible list. A patient applies for a regular medical visa, and a companion for a medical attendant visa. The Bureau of Immigration allows most foreign nationals up to two medical attendants.
Where can Yemeni patients apply?
Yemen’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported on 7 October 2025 that an Indian Embassy team had started work in Aden. The aim was to provide visa services to Yemeni citizens, especially patients seeking medical treatment in India. The Ministry said this spares travellers from going to Indian missions in other countries. The Embassy of India in Sana’a says it accepts visa, passport and consular applications between 09:30 and 11:30 on working days. Contact the office before you travel to it, as arrangements can change.
What should you prepare?
- The online visa application form from the Government of India website, printed and signed.
- A passport with at least six months’ validity.
- An invitation or acceptance letter from the Indian hospital.
- Medical reports and a referral letter from your doctor in Yemen.
- Passport details of the attendant, so the hospital can include them in its letter.
Can you change hospital after arriving?
Only with justification. The Bureau of Immigration says a change of hospital or place of treatment from the one on your visa is allowed case by case, with documentary proof. Choose the hospital carefully before you apply.
When must you register with the FRRO?
The Bureau of Immigration says foreigners whose medical or attendant visa is valid for more than 180 days must register within 14 days of arrival. Check your visa and ask the hospital’s international desk.
Is Arabic support available?
IndiaMedica publishes a full Arabic edition. You can send your reports and questions in Arabic. We can ask the hospital about an Arabic interpreter during consultations.
How does IndiaMedica help Yemeni patients?
We review your reports free of charge and ask suitable hospitals for an opinion, with your consent. The treating specialist decides whether treatment is suitable. Because visa access from Yemen can be hard, we help you get a clear hospital letter early. That gives you time to apply.
