Which visa should a Mauritian patient apply for?

Apply for the e-Medical visa on India’s official e-Visa portal, where Mauritius is listed as eligible. The application needs a letter from the Indian hospital on its letterhead showing the suggested admission date. Apply at least four days before arrival and no more than 120 days ahead.

Who can travel with the patient?

The portal grants up to two e-Medical Attendant visas against one e-Medical visa. Every traveller needs a separate passport. The Embassy of India in Washington notes that people endorsed on a parent’s or spouse’s passport cannot use the e-Visa, and that diplomatic and official passport holders are excluded.

  • Children need their own passport, valid at least six months from arrival according to the portal’s FAQ.
  • Adults need six months’ validity at the time of application and two blank pages.
  • Each traveller uploads a white-background photo and a PDF of the passport details page.
  • The portal says travellers with Pakistani passports or of Pakistani origin should apply for a regular visa at an Indian mission.

Is a yellow fever certificate needed from Mauritius?

Mauritius does not appear on the yellow fever endemic list reproduced by India’s Ministry of Health. The rule applies to travellers arriving from listed countries, so check it if your route passes through one.

Which language edition suits Mauritian patients?

IndiaMedica’s English edition is the reference version and suits most Mauritian families. Our French edition is also available for readers who prefer French. Hospital records in India are issued in English.

Where do e-Visa holders enter India?

Only designated airports and seaports accept e-Visa arrivals. The portal’s airport list includes Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Kochi (Cochin). Confirm your landing airport is listed.

Biometrics on arrival

The portal states that biometric details are captured at immigration on arrival in India. Allow time at the airport, especially when travelling with a patient who tires easily.

What should Mauritian patients carry?

Pack the e-Visa approval, hospital letter, reports and imaging files, and prescriptions for regular medicines. Indian customs prohibits narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, so ask the hospital about any controlled medicine first. Declare foreign currency above prescribed limits.

How does IndiaMedica help Mauritian patients?

We review your reports free, request opinions and estimates from accredited hospitals, help you get the admission letter and keep in touch through follow-up at home. Partner hospitals pay a disclosed referral fee that never changes your price.
