Which visa does a Kuwaiti patient need?
Kuwait appears on the official list of countries eligible for the Indian e-Visa. The patient applies for the e-Medical visa and each companion for an e-Medical Attendant visa. The portal allows two attendant visas for each patient. The Bureau of Immigration says foreigners coming for treatment at recognised hospitals must arrive on a medical visa, so do not travel on a tourist e-Visa.
What are the steps before you fly?
- Get the hospital’s acceptance once the specialist has reviewed your reports.
- Apply for the e-Medical visa at least four days before arrival, within a 120-day window.
- Make sure your passport has six months’ validity on the application date and two blank pages.
- Complete the e-Arrival card online within 72 hours before you land, on the e-Arrival portal or the Indian Visa Su-Swagatam app.
- Keep the hospital letter in your hand luggage.
Where can you land?
An e-Visa is valid only at designated entry points. The portal’s airport list includes Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kochi, Calicut, Kannur, Thiruvananthapuram and Mangalore, among others. Check the current list before you book a ticket.
What happens on arrival?
Biometric details are captured at immigration. The Bureau of Immigration notes that a visa does not by itself give a right of entry. The immigration officer decides. Make sure your passport is stamped on arrival and departure. If a stamp is missed, the Bureau says to contact the nearest FRRO or immigration post.
What should you prepare?
- A summary from your doctor in Kuwait and copies of recent tests.
- Imaging files on a disc or as a download link.
- A list of current medicines, with a doctor’s letter for any you carry.
- Passport details of your attendants for the hospital letter.
Is Arabic support available?
IndiaMedica publishes a full Arabic edition. You can send your reports and questions in Arabic. We can ask the hospital about an Arabic interpreter for consultations and consent discussions.
How does IndiaMedica help Kuwaiti patients?
We review your reports free of charge and ask suitable hospitals for an opinion. The treating specialist decides whether treatment is suitable and when it is safe to fly home. We help you line up the hospital letter, visa timing and arrival so the paperwork is ready before you travel.
Questions people ask
What is the e-Arrival card?
The Bureau of Immigration asks travellers to submit an e-Arrival card online within 72 hours before arriving in India. You can do it on the e-Arrival portal or the Indian Visa Su-Swagatam app. It is separate from your e-Medical visa.
Can I travel on a tourist e-Visa and see a doctor?
Not for planned treatment. The Bureau of Immigration says foreigners coming for treatment at recognised hospitals must arrive on a medical visa. Visa holders must also keep to the purpose they declared. Apply for the e-Medical visa instead.
How many people can accompany a Kuwaiti patient?
The e-Visa portal grants up to two e-Medical Attendant visas against one e-Medical visa. Others who travel would need their own suitable visa and could not act as registered attendants.
